The Space Between Breaths is designed for percussion ensemble, mixed chamber group, or flexible instrumentation. The modular format allows movements to be programmed independently or combined into a larger arc, adapting to ensemble size, rehearsal time, and performance context.
The work is constructed from text-based instructions, rhythmic and textural cells, and guided improvisational frameworks rather than a fixed traditional score. This structure encourages individual agency within collective form, inviting performers to shape the pacing, density, and energy of each section.
