Brimstone & Glory

A twenty-two piece chamber orchestra playing a live score to Brimstone & Glory at the Tennessee Theatre, on the Friday of Big Ears 2018, in collaboration with Wordless Music in New York. I conducted.

The film is about the fireworks town of Tultepec, and it is loud and fast and does not wait for anybody. Conducting to picture is a different discipline from conducting a concert work: the tempo is not yours, the downbeats are already on the screen, and the only real question is whether the orchestra arrives at each of them without the audience noticing you were counting.
