The University of Tennessee Percussion Ensemble played a showcase concert at the Midwest Band & Orchestra Clinic in Chicago in December 2025, selected by application from a national pool.
Midwest is the largest gathering of band and orchestra directors in the world, which makes the showcase a strange and useful room: the audience is not a percussion audience. They are the people who decide what a few thousand programs will play next year. What you put in front of them travels.
The shape of it, from the calendar: full ensemble runs through the fall, a dress rehearsal on December 14, the drive to Chicago on the 17th, and equipment unpacked back in Knoxville on the 20th.
